The astrological air signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, represent a very interesting triad in astrology. If you have your Sun, Moon or another personal planet or point in these signs, you are a person who is here to look at life in a very different manner. The air signs don’t like to get their hands dirty, but would rather come up with ideas, have discussions and dialogue.

Each air sign has a specific way in which they express a very limited and circumscribed view, but each also has an ability to literally rise above it all, gaining a larger vantage point. For the sake of this article, let’s review how each of them does this.

Mutable Gemini has the ability to move between things showing there is not just one way of being. The constant yes of Aries and the constant no of Taurus seek awareness of one another in the sign of the twins. This first air sign introduces a conundrum of observation: they can’t see the forest for the trees. They are information gluttons who love collecting words, ideas, interactions and are always at some stage of integrating all of it into a sensible whole. The glyph, or symbol for Gemini is two letter “I” put together ` which implies the importance of equality to these natives. Two individuals -neither one above, nor below the other.

Libra is cardinal, meaning it has the ability to initiate. The second air sign is also dualistic and is focused on finding harmony and balance. This is often challenging as we live in a mostly chaotic world. This seventh sign of the zodiac is developmentally ready to take all it has learned from the previous five signs of Aries through Virgo and is ready for a meaningful dalliance with another. The enigma for this relationship-oriented sign is in giving themselves away in order to make another happy. They are the polarity to instinctual Aries and seek a more intellectual approach to life’s problems. A Chinese finger trap for Librans is anything that has to do with the idea of being appropriate. Making room for the ugly and the mundane in life is good medicine for individuals with these planets. Like Dolly Parton said, “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” The astrological glyph for Libra is an upside down seasaw d which implies the importance of attaining accord. Two individuals seeking mutuality.

Humanitarian Aquarius is the final air sign and, like the other two is dual as well. This signifies the importance of air’s need to relate. While these individuals theoretically have the developmental understanding of the previous ten signs under their belt, they are (don’t tell them!) still human and therefore have to deal with the unpleasantries in life like everyone else -except Pisces of course! These natives can value and fixate upon their ideas while devaluing and/or dismissing individuals who do not share their point of view. There is a complexity here opposite self-centering Leo because Aquarius is building an ego that balances self and society. Erin Sullivan says the smaller the idea, the pettier the Aquarian and the grander the idea, the more exalted the Aquarian. Magic happens when these individuals come down from their lofty ivory towers and sit on the same level with others, sharing ideas, breaking bread and acknowledging the brilliance in others. The glyph for wizard Aquarius is an electrified equal sign h which implies the magic that happens when interacting with and valuing others. Two individuals reflecting humanity.

Enjoy the air perspective and the buoyant breath they give us all. The air signs are learning how to be impersonal to the personal and personal to the impersonal.

Wishing you well in these interesting times,
