Mercury, the god of communication, movement and making connections, reaches out to his older more “situated” brothers: Jupiter, aka Zeus, who rules the Heavens, Neptune, aka Poseidon, who rules the seas and Pluto, aka Hades who rules the underworld. Known as the psychopomp, because he can travel to and between any of his brothers’ kingdoms, Hermes has a freedom the other three do not.

This week Mercury will be in favorable relationships with his brothers. On Thursday 7 May he makes a sextile relationship to Neptune giving us the ability to make connections in unusual and more fluid ways. The ability to be more creative, dream more vividly (and remember them!), communicate with the unseen, get drunk or high and express love are all supported at this time as well as getting lost in our own inner worlds or trying to escape the enormity of it all. These energies remind us we are all in the collective soup together even though we are individually viewing it from different places.

On Saturday 9 May, the Hermes makes a trine relationship with ever intense brother Pluto helping us to understand there is unconscious and conscious rotten material in our lives that needs to be cleaned out in order to become healthier and stronger. Maybe an increase in Covid-19 transmission will show that we are not safe opening businesses -having falsely believed that the economy is more valuable than human life. Make no mistake, life is more important than the economy and lest anyone forget, without life, there is no economy. Our communities will continue to show their strengths as various leaders attempt to not only understand the vast ramifications of the pandemic, but how to continue to move forward.  Commerce, ruled by Mercury, needs to flows so people get their needs met, not at their expense, but for a greater benefit. These two planets are the bookends of our solar system representing the personal to the transpersonal and everything in-between.

On Sunday 10 May, Mercury meets up in a supportive trine relationship with ever expansive heavenly Jupiter just before their father Saturn turns retrograde back in to corporate focused Capricorn. This is a great time to come up with expansive and inclusive ideas, ways of connecting and benefitting many, gardening and using our hands to create and do things that will produce rewards, sharing our bounty and being generous with those in need. These two planets can also greatly exacerbate a situation –so transmission of Covid could see an increase or we become aware of other ways of transmition or this can simply be about finding ways to re-open our society and reconnecting.

Finally, Mercury sprints into his home sign of Gemini on Monday after having a little disagreement with his headstrong brother Mars. Ideas, thoughts and the poly-probable perspectives and understandings of life and its expressions are all up for discussion and review.

Upon which narrative do you choose to focus? The one blaring from the corporate news stations or the one in your gut, heart and mind? These are the times that really challenge so many as a level of discrimination is needed to make our way to a less shady future. Everyone needs to take some alone time and keep connected to their inner light, compassion and love, if we don’t we are all lost. Merrylin and I spoke about these conjunctions on her show Moonwise

Set up an altar, rock cairn in your yard, take a walk, dance or run and give thanks to Mercury as he makes these necessary connections with his brothers. Pay attention to what is presented at this time and release that which no longer serves you and deepen the connections with the parts of your life that feed and nourish you.

Wishing you well in these very interesting times,

Michael
