This year, 2020, is a watershed year in which so many new cycles are beginning that we may not even recognize from whence we came. I have spoken about the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction resulting in a pandemic and COVID-19 appeared as if on cue! After the final Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in November, Jupiter goes onto meet up with father Saturn at the earliest degree of Aquarius. This particular conjunction sets off a new 200-year cycle known as the Trigonalis. We are moving from the trigon of earth and into the trigon element of air.
When we look at previous periods of Jupiter and Saturn in air signs, we find only two periods in the last two thousand years 11/27/332 through 1/27/670 and 118/8/1186 through 1/16/1405. We still speak about the amazing changes that took place during these two cycles.
For the first period 27 November 332 through 27 January 670, we have these significant events (not in order):
The sacking and subsequent fall of Rome, Constantine, Muhammad, the last of the Roman Persian wars, Jerusalem taken by the Arab army, period of Three Kingdoms ends in Korea and beginning of northern and southern states
And the last time we had an air trigon from 8 November 1186 through 16 January 1405, we have these significant world events:
First Windmills recorded, Saladin recaptures Jerusalem, Magna Carta, Genghis Khan, Marco Polo, The Divine Comedy, The Black Death, Universities founded in many places, the Renaissance.
As we can see by what has gone before, these are times of great change. We see themes of the past still weaving a pattern in our current period, do we not? Interesting to note that the last two air trigons affected Jerusalem -will another sacking occur? The fall of Rome and the powers of the British royalty shifted in favor of the rule by many, rather than an elite, and often debauched, few. In this last cycle, we saw the Black Death transform Europe in less than three years.
We didn’t understand how bacteria, germs and viruses worked during the last air trigon, but we understand a lot more now. Knowing that we need to keep our distance from people and to wash our hands repeatedly, we can find a way through the current threat with a level of understanding. The Roman Catholic Church was the “ultimate” authority and therefore advocated regimens that ensured the church’s power rather than the safety of its followers during the Black Death. Although some religious leaders have been trying to hawk panaceas that will protect and cure you from COVID-19, our current mistruths are unfortunately coming from our United States Government. Rather than stepping up to the plate and being the leaders they were elected to be, they are too busy casting blame on anything but themselves so as to ensure they will be re-elected less than eight months from now. Such a lack of leadership has its consequences and we shall see how the piper gets paid in November. We may also see a complete usurping of the United States done under the guise of “National Emergency”.
One of the consequences of a pandemic is quarantine. Aquarius, the sign of electronics, computers and connecting through the æthers, can help business continue while we are all locked in our homes. My sense is this pandemic will begin a process of further individual separation through encouraging work to be done from home. Remember, Aquarius is not only the sign of community, but also of separation. Consider the ways in which human interactions have changed with the advent of smart phones: while we are more connected than ever before, there are many more people who feel lonelier than they ever have. Work will likely head in this trend as companies realize the overhead of brick and mortar is an unnecessary expense.
Aquarius is a sign of observation and community. If we can rise above our fear, do the right things to take care of ourselves, our families, homes and communities, maybe we can begin to reconnect in more meaningful ways? Maybe working from home will give us the time to say hello to our neighbors, have community gardens and day care centers that are about the children playing and dissolving the deadening traditions that have created such separation that has led to our current world experience. We also have to all work to elect politicians who seek to improve the lot of all Americans, not just a select few.
As you can, take a few deep breaths, take some time to yourself, find ways to nurture yourself and those around you, both known and unknown. We are all in this together. The traditional and esoteric ruler of Aquarius come together to birth a more sustainable way to relate and live in community with one another. The Jupiterian largess supported by structured Saturn gives Aquarius boundless possibilities to further right human relationship. With a strong foundation any goal is attainable. Remember a fabulous Renaissance occurred last time!
